In the first chapter of this book “on-line” BUYING A SAILBOAT, we elaborated a list of ten (10) essential requirements that can help us not to make a mistake in our choice of a sailboat. One of these essential requirements is the type of sail rig, as it would be very difficult and costly to modify later. <\/span><\/p>\n

In this second chapter, we will look at the different types of rigging possible for a sailboat, and discuss in general terms some of their advantages and disadvantages depending on the intended use of the boat, whether it is for cruising or racing, coastal or offshore. <\/span><\/p>\n

These rigs are: the SLOOP (in its three forms: SLOOP (TOP OF HE MAST), FRACTIONED and SOLENT), the CUTTER and the KETCH.<\/span><\/p>\n
