The difference with \u201cMapfre\u201d, which currently holds the record for the Discovery Route, was 45 minutes and 52 seconds. \u201cMaxicat Victoria\u201d took 1 day, 18 hours, 34 minutes and 38 seconds to complete the first leg of this route and \u2018Mapfre\u2019 did it in 1 day, 19 hours, 20 minutes and 30 seconds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.98); font-size: large;\">\u201cIn this first leg of the Discovery Route record, we have done very well and we have had bearing winds. We set off with little wind from Huelva and we immediately got some 18 to 30 knots of wind and it has allowed us to test the boat with the conditions of the Atlantic. Understanding the boat well for the second leg is the key to this great challenge. Between us we have worked very well with a wheel of guards, which has allowed us to go with a good pace,\u201d said Alex Pella.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.98); font-size: large;\">After passing through La Gomera, the crew of \u201cMaxicat Victoria\u201d formed by Alex Pella, Lalou Roucayrol, Alejandro Cantero, Alberto Mu\u00f1oz, Pablo Santurde, Pilar Casares and Manuel Maqueda, will head to the Real Club N\u00e1utico de Gran Canaria, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and will moor until the next weather window that will allow them to start the second leg of this route, the one between La Gomera and San Salvador, in the Bahamas. To break the record, they will have to complete both legs in less than 11 days, 7 hours and 40 seconds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/navegantesoceanicos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/La-Gomera_Maxicat-Victoria-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: large;\">The \u201cMaxicat Victoria\u201d has a real time tracking system during the entire voyage and at each moment will offer comparative information on distance covered and time spent with the current record holder, the \u201cMapfre\u201d.
