About Éric Tabarly
A French naval officer, he became a sailing legend in 1964 when he competed in the OSTAR, a solo transatlantic race between England and the USA, crossing the finish line in 27 days, beating the previous record of Francis Chichester by 13 days.
For this achievement, France named Éric Tabarly a Knight of the Legion of Honor, one of France’s highest civilian awards.
