Storms and damage in the final days, close to the finish of the Vendée Globe, are not uncommon. Tired boats and brutally fatigued sailors are a combination doubly challenged by winter gales in the North Atlantic.

CHARLIE DALIN, wins the non-stop round the world race VENDÉE GLOBE 2024, after 66 days of sailing, setting a new record (he has taken 8 days less than the previous record). Congratulations to the great French ocean sailor Charlie Dalin!

The rivalry between Charlie Dalin (MACIF Santé Prévoyance, 1st) and Yoann Richomme (PAPREC ARKÉA, 2nd) continues at full intensity in the trade winds on their 59th day at sea. Meanwhile, Boris Herrmann (Malizia – Seaexplorer, 6th) has experienced his second lightning strike in the last six months.

The last few days of light winds have been frustrating for the two Vendée Globe leaders but gentler winds have actually been a chance for Charlie Dalin (MACIF Santé Prévoyance) and Yoann Richomme (PAPREC ARKÉA) to find time to recharge their energy and triple check their boats for the final stage back to Les Sables d’Olonne.
