  • It has expanded its space and offers a premium product and experience to attract a higher-spending audience.
  • For the first time, the Barcelona pier is being incorporated into the exhibition area of Port Vell to accommodate larger vessels.

The Barcelona International Boat Show embarks on a new chapter this October, focusing on enhancing the quality and variety of its offerings and providing a premium experience for a more discerning audience. To achieve this, Spain’s leading boating event will feature the largest number of large yachts in recent years, expand its exhibition space to include the Barcelona marina, showcase boats from leading shipyards, host international product launches, and introduce new high-end dining venues, such as the “Village,” a social and business hub within the show grounds.

Organized by Fira de Barcelona with the collaboration of the National Association of Nautical Businesses (ANEN), the 62nd edition of the Barcelona International Boat Show will take place from October 8 to 12, featuring nearly 200 exhibitors and some 500 boats, 130 of which will be on display in the floating exhibition area. These exhibitors will showcase the latest innovations in the sector, with a greater variety of models and sizes than ever before.

The event will include leading global shipyards such as Brunswick and the Beneteau Group, as well as prestigious companies and brands like Absolute, Azimut, Bluegame, De Antonio Yachts, Excess, Fyord, Garmin, Girbau, Jeanneau, Pardo, Leopard, Fountaine Pajot, Lagoon, Movilmotors, Nuva, Touron, Recambios Marinos, Rodman, Sasga, Sealine, Sessa, Solaris, Solé, X-Yacht, Yamaha, Zephir, and Zodiac.

This year’s edition welcomes new exhibitors such as Sunreef, Horizon, Kawasaki, and Pearl. Notably, several new Spanish shipyards, including Kumbra, Level, Maxim, and Cleemenss, will be participating, along with Italian shipyards Explorer and Rio Yachts, both making their debut at the 2025 show.

The participating brands will present the latest products on the market, featuring boats with cutting-edge technology, innovative designs, and applications for greater efficiency and sustainability. A highlight will be the world premiere of Horizon’s new 31-meter FD100 model.

In this way, the number of boat brands and manufacturers, as well as the range and size of the vessels on display, continues to grow. It is worth noting that 24% of the boats will be larger than 16 meters (up to 30 meters). To accommodate this, the Barcelona pier will be included in the show for the first time, along with the Fusta pier and parts of the España and Marina Port Vell piers. An electric shuttle boat from De Antonio Yachts will connect the Barcelona and España piers, allowing visitors to explore the entire exhibition area in a 360° tour.

Luis Conde, Salón ´s President

Change of course

The president of the boat show, Luis Conde, commented that “this year’s edition marks a turning point in the show’s history, as we are committed to significantly improving the overall quality of the event. For this reason, we will feature larger boats and more exclusive content, such as the ‘Village’ area, which will debut in 2025.”

With the slogan ‘The Boatique’, this year’s edition launches the new phase of the Barcelona Boat Show, following its Strategic Plan, which aims to enhance the event’s offerings within three years, thus attracting major national and international buyers.

The show’s director, Josep Antoni Llopart, stated that “our intention is to reposition ourselves on the international calendar as a higher-level event within a maximum period of three years, by attracting a greater presence of leading international companies that will also showcase their latest innovations in Barcelona.”

Village, in Salón´s heart

Following this same approach, the Boat Show has decided to enhance its offerings by launching a new space aimed at its most discerning visitors. Located on the Drassanes pier, in the Portal de la Pau area, this 2,500 m² “Village” will serve as the main social hub for visitors, buyers, exhibitors, and industry professionals, providing a venue for all kinds of promotional activities and business networking. Companies such as CaixaBank, Occident, Espígul Real Estate, Land Rover Quadis, and Tara will have their own dedicated spaces within this area.

At this venue, Le Chef Catering will serve a six-course tasting menu featuring seafood dishes, designed by the renowned Sevillian chef Rafa Zafra, who has restaurants in Barcelona, Madrid, Ibiza, and Monte Carlo. This culinary experience will be complemented by an open bar offering a selection of high-quality tapas.

Sustainability and the blue economy

Regarding the offerings for professionals, the Terminal Drassanes building will host the conference program of the trade show from October 8 to 11. This program, called Àgora-Port, is coordinated by the Port of Barcelona. Over four days, more than 30 sessions—including presentations and roundtables—will bring together around one hundred experts to address issues related to innovation, sustainability, and the promotion of the blue economy.

Among other topics, various experiences in innovative and sustainable port management will be presented, along with discussions on the electrification of vessels and zero-emission navigation, the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence, the use of marine robotics in oceanographic research and vessel and infrastructure maintenance, best practices for responsible navigation, and the implementation of digital platforms for planning voyages with large yachts.

Among the featured speakers are the director of Port Vell in Barcelona, David Pino; the president of the Port of Tangier (Morocco), Mohamed Ounaya; the CEO of Seabots, Pau Guasch; the president of Marinas de España, Tomás Azcárate; the director general of Ports of the Generalitat, Esther Roca; the director of the Nautical Institute of Barcelona, Mireia Latre; and the co-founder of Ocean Structures, Mireia de Mas.

Strategic sector

In addition to being a way of life, the boating industry is also a strategically important economic sector. “Boating is a key driver of the blue economy, which is currently undergoing a period of profound transformation, and initiatives like those featured at the upcoming Barcelona Boat Show are an important stimulus and source of support for strengthening innovation, internationalization, and the competitiveness of our companies,” says Jordi Carrasco, CEO of ANEN.

The recreational boating market in Spain closed the period from January to August of this year with a total of 4,084 registrations, representing a 5.3% decrease compared to the same period in 2023, according to ANEN, based on data provided by the Directorate General of Merchant Marine.
